Equitable Development Planning in the 30th Street Corridor Walking/Bus Tour

Cost: $99 (includes lunch)
Level: Beginner
Maximum Size: 49 attendees

Description:

Join us for a tour of the proposed 7.2-mile 30th Street Corridor "rail with trail" project on the north side of Milwaukee (a 76-mile bus ride to and from Madison each away). Lunch included at Lakefront Brewery. At the heart of the trail project is the community led Equitable Development Plan that will provide a blueprint for positive outcomes for workforce development, affordable housing and transportation alternatives that will be undertaken together with the planning and construction of this transformative neighborhood infrastructure project. Transportation pickup/drop off at Monona Terrace Convention Center outside main doors (4th floor).

The 30th Street Corridor is an important part of Milwaukee’s industrial history and an equally important part of ensuring a successful future by undoing the harm of years of racial segregation and underinvestment. While there have been many successful grassroots efforts to address the racial and economic disparities in the Corridor, there is only so much local organizations can do in the current constraints of the built environment. This region requires a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul to free the community from its current transportation barriers and usher in a safer, more prosperous future.

Local non-profits, economic development organizations, business leaders, and all levels of government stand ready to follow the lead of 30th Street Corridor residents as they guide the future of these vibrant, resilient Milwaukee neighborhoods.

The 30th Street Corridor Trail, once completed, will connect the Hank Aaron State Trail, the Oak Leaf Trail and future connection to the Beerline Trail, creating a continuous 17-mile loop around the city.

PLEASE NOTE: Times noted included transportation to and from location noted above. Start time is when transportation intends to depart and the end time is when attendees are expected to arrive back by. Please arrive at requested location 15 minutes before start time to check-in.
